It was shortly after the ATS failure that the telephone rang again. This time it was the Italian industrialist Renzo Rivolta calling. His company, ISO, were known from producing small light cars and scooters. Rivolta was a production man. He was not interested in design, experiments, or racing. Produce, produce, produce – when he could produce cars like sausages he was happy - Bizzarrini says.
Rivolta had found a car, the Gordon Keeble, that he wanted to produce and now he neede Bizzarrini to develop the project. The Gordon finally became the ISO Rivolta and it was a great success. This was the first time that Bizzarrini came in contact with the American V8 engine and he was very impressed. The next project at ISO was a racing Rivolta. This was Bizzarrinis idea and he tried to convince Renzo Rivolta that racing was the way to build prestige for the brand. Rivolta refused. Racing was not his bag.
- Le corse falle te – racing you do it. And once again Bizzarrini was out of a job, but this time with an idea of his own and also with the necessary parts for the first competition cars. This was the agreement made when Bizzarrini left ISO and this time it was a happy separation.
