It was then decided that we would attend the Turin show in june and there we would display the rolling chassis together
with the clay model, After Turin we would test the chassis on track and start planning for building the body parts. Turin was a success. The first two days of the show are special. We had close to 100 journalists visiting the Bizzarrini stand even though it was one of the smallest on the show. On the trade day we were fortunate to meet many of Bizzarrinis old friends. Some of the people who build Italy’s reputation as the masters of sports and racing cars. Testing the preprototype In August 2000 we went for the first testing of the chassis. Unfortunately the engine would not rev properly and the test session was soon aborted. The next test was in October at Varano, the home track of Dallara. Now the engine was performing properly delivering 156 HP at 11.000 RPM. The test was not a real chassis test since we had no body and therefore no real aerodynamics, but it would tell us if we had a good platform to work from or not. Our test driver for the day, Davide (who normally works at the Ferrari F1 team.) gave us the thumb up. BEBI was good. Bizzarrini then decided that before we could start the real testing and development of the chassis, we had to put a body on top of it. To be continued… |
